Dr Steve Atkin
BDSC MDSC(QLD)
After 23 years of creating incredible smiles, Dr Steve Atkin has officially stepped into retirement. While we’ll miss seeing him in the clinic, his legacy remains in every confident smile he helped create. On behalf of the entire Ethos team and our patients, we thank Dr Steve for his dedication, kindness and the lasting impact he will continue to have on our community.
Originally from Deception Bay, Steve moved to Thursday Island where he set up the School Dental Service throughout the Torres Strait. Steve became a qualified orthodontist in 1996, and has continued his work with children through the School Dental Service in Brisbane. Steve is also the Visiting Dental Specialist at the University of Queensland’s School of Dentistry, where he gives lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
His passion lies in helping patients with special needs, particularly those with cleft lip and palate problems. He participates in cleft palate clinics at the Royal Children’s Hospital and the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital, and is a member of the Queensland Craniofacial Centre at the Mater Children’s Hospital.
In Steve’s spare time he loves anything to do with the water, from heading to the beach to boating and swimming. His other hobbies include motorcycle riding, driving, and gardening!
