What is Gingivitis?

Gingivitis is an inflammation of the gums. It is the initial stage of gum disease and the easiest to treat.  The direct cause of gingivitis is plaque- the soft, sticky, colourless film of bacteria that forms constantly on the teeth and gums. If the plaque is not removed by daily brushing and flossing, it produces toxins that can irritate the gum tissue, causing gingivitis.

how your smile can help you get a job, make friends and influence people

Research from Align Technology reveals that people with a nice smile are seen as more successful, wealthier and more likely to get a job than those with crooked teeth. They're also seen as more popular, more social, healthier and happier.

Research by Align Technology, the makers of Invisalign clear aligners, suggests that appearance is more important in an interview than having knowledge of the role or even oozing confidence and personality!  Nearly a half of people surveyed felt that not having a perfect smile would knock their confidence in the workplace, to the extent that a fifth are willing to give up their annual holiday in favour of great teeth.

berry good for you

They may be little, but raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, and cranberries are big on antioxidants.

The antioxidants in berries can help your body fight oxidative stress caused by free radicals that can lead to illness. Eating a diet rich in antioxidants can help improve your health, protect your skin and hair, and prevent certain diseases. All fruits and vegetables contain antioxidants, but nutrient-rich berries are some of the absolute best sources.

There are several powerful antioxidants that appear in berries, including anthocyanins, quercetin, and vitamin C. Anthocyanins give berries their vibrant color, reduce inflammation, and may help prevent and manage arthritis. Anthocyanins work together with quercetin to help slow age-related memory-loss. Quercetin can also decrease the inflammatory effects of chemicals in the synovial fluid of the joints for people with inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis.
