It’s easy to see why Invisalign is one of the most popular teeth aligning treatments for our patients.

Not only are these clear aligners virtually invisible, but they also allow you to take your aligners out on special occasions or to eat meals.

Invisible Braces Brisbane

The invisible way to a great smile

Invisalign clear aligners are a lightweight, clear plastic casing that are made especially to fit over your teeth. They are replaced regularly with new aligners that bring your teeth that bit closer to your perfect smile.

While it’s not the perfect solution for every orthodontic case, it’s a great invisible braces option for many patients. Your orthodontist will help you decide if it’s right for you. If braces were the main orthodontic treatment when you were younger, Invisalign will come as a pleasant surprise. It provides effective orthodontic results, but also fits easily around your lifestyle.

Better still, our orthodontists are Invisalign ‘diamond providers’ – so we are among the top providers of Invisalign in Australia. You can turn to Ethos Orthodontics with complete confidence.

FAQs

How do Invisalign clear aligners work?

Similar to braces and other forms of orthodontic treatment, Invisalign is focused on improving your teeth’s alignment, gapped teeth and over or underbites. Unlike traditional braces which use wires to alter your teeth, Invisalign users plastic aligners to gently move your teeth into a better alignment.

First, your orthodontist will take an x-ray and dental scan of your teeth to create a 3D image of your teeth. Once there is a treatment plan in place, you will receive your first custom set of aligners fit to your mouth. From here you’ll receive a new set every few weeks (each slightly different from the last) until the end of your treatment plan.

Is Invisalign right for everyone?

Unfortunately, Invisalign is not for everyone. During your initial consultation with your treatment coordinator, they will consider the severity of your case, your age and how committed you are to your treatment when determining if Invisalign is right for you.

If you need more complex treatment, braces may be more effective. This doesn’t mean you have to endure the big clunky metal braces of the past. These days, there are other discreet treatment options to suit your lifestyles, such as Incognito and Clarity. Talk to your friendly Ethos orthodontist about the best options.

How much does Invisalign cost?

The cost of Invisalign varies for each patient; however, we will talk you through the treatment options and their costs. At Ethos, we offer discounts and flexible payment plans to suit your needs. For more information on pricing and our payment options speak to the friendly ethos team.

How long does Invisalign take?

Aligners can take approximately 16 to 24 months to work their magic. However, this timeframe will vary depending on each patient and their needs. If a patient is using orthodontic aligners to amend minor alignment issues, the treatment may last as little as six months. Aligner treatments often take longer than traditional braces methods as the plastic is not as strong as metal; therefore, the process is a little slower.

Can I take my Invisalign aligner out?

Yes. Invisalign is designed to be removed when you eat and when you clean your teeth. The aligners are designed to be worn for long periods (usually 20 to 22 hours a day). Once you have finished eating and drinking, pop them back on and keep them on till your next meal, especially at night.

How do I clean my Invisalign aligner?

At your insertion appointment, we will show you all the cleaning procedures required to keep your Invisalign looking great!

If you forget how to clean your aligners correctly, please give the friendly Ethos team a call. We recommend using a denture cleaner and water; we will guide you through this process during your insertion appointment.

Which is better: Invisalign or braces?

Both Invisalign and braces have their benefits and disadvantages, and depending on your circumstances and teeth alignment, one treatment may be better than the other. Your treatment coordinator can chat to you about which treatment is best for you.

Many clients prefer aligners as they are removable and virtually invisible. However, if you do not wear your aligners for the required time, you may undo any progress that you have made. With braces, you cannot remove them, so progress is guaranteed.

By using aligners, you often need to visit the Ethos clinic approximately every two weeks. Whereas, those with traditional metal braces often need to visit the clinic once every four or six weeks for tightening. There are many other factors to consider, such as maintenance and hygiene and your personal goals. For more information comparing the two treatments, check out our blog post on finding the right treatment.

Can Invisalign damage your teeth?

Removable aligners will not damage your teeth. However, if you forget to remove the aligners for meals and cleaning, plaque and food particles can become caught between your teeth and the aligners. This can lead to smelly breath and in extreme cases, cavities. Your treatment team will give you some tips and tricks to avoid this, like removing the aligners during meals and brushing your teeth after eating anything (before reinserting your aligns).

What can you eat with Invisalign?

Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign is removable and should be taken out for each meal and drink break (you can keep them in if you are drinking water). Since you do not need to be worried about food getting caught between wires or snapping your braces, you can feel pretty confident about eating any food.

To support your teeth alignment, you should aim to eat more dairy products during your treatment to promote calcium and protein — vital for maintaining healthy teeth. Snacking on crunchy fruits and vegetables keeps your mouth hydrated and can help keep your mouth naturally clean. Do not forget to remove your aligners every time you eat and drink!
